Accused Lured Victim with Promise of Student Union Role
Former student allegedly exploited trust to commit assault
According to the police, three individuals had already been arrested on Thursday. The prime accused, Manojit Mishra—a former student currently working in an ad-hoc staff position—was taken into custody alongside two present students, Pramit Mukherjee (a first-year student) and Zaib Ahmed (a second-year student), both reportedly close associates of Mishra.
In her statement, the victim revealed that Mishra invited her to the union room, offering snacks and promising her a leadership position in the student union. Later, he allegedly proposed marriage, and upon her refusal, she was forcibly taken to the guard room, where the assault reportedly took place. The victim stated that when she resisted, she was threatened with video recordings and physically assaulted. She was only released after showing signs of extreme panic. Her father picked her up from the college later that night.
